The Forest Stewardship Council brings people together to promote responsible forest management and to find solutions to the problems created by bad forestry practises.
Products carrying the FSC label are independently certified to assure customers that they come from forests that are managed to meet social, economic and ecological needs of present and future generations.
The international certification is a chain-of-custody programme that certifies that the wood fibres originate from sustainable sources and ensures that it if correctly managed during its transformation into consumer products.
What does FSC mean for you?
Trying to do the right thing and buying responsibly produced products can be confusing. The FSC label makes it easy to make the right choice when buying timber of paper products.
Why FSC makes a difference:
· Prohibits conversion of natural forests
· Prohibits the use of highly hazardous pesticides
· Prohibits the cultivation of genetically modified trees
· Respects the rights of indigenous peoples around the world
· Controls each certified operation at least once a year – to ensure that they continue to comply with regulations (if they do not comply, then their certificate will be withdrawn).
