Supporting Our Community Through The NHS

To celebrate the NHS’s 76th Birthday, Our Hospitals Charity at James Cook Hospital wanted a memorable, family-friendly coffee morning that would bring staff, patients and the local community together. AlphaGraphics answered the call, donating design and production services to transform the hospital foyer into an Alice in Wonderland-themed event space. From eye-catching floor vinyls to life-size photo cut-outs and whimsical table toppers, our pro-bono print and installation created a playful, Instagram-ready environment that helped the charity raise awareness and celebrate NHS staff.

Creating a family-friendly space to celebrate the NHS

Alphagraphics UK provided a charitable donation of large-format printing and event graphics to Our Hospitals Charity for an NHS 76th Birthday coffee morning at James Cook Hospital, Middlesbrough. Briefed to support an Alice in Wonderland theme, we supplied floor vinyl stickers, photo cut-out opportunities, bespoke table decorations and themed bunting, all produced, delivered and installed at no cost to the charity.

“Thanks to Alex Whitley, Emma Kemp and the wider team for everything you did to help with our Big Tea event. We are so grateful; it really did make a massive difference to the event, and we really enjoyed your company on the day. The photo frames and props created a genuine buzz throughout the hospital, creating a warm, fun and inviting space for staff, patients and visitors to enjoy! Thank you!”

The Challenge

Our Hospitals Charity wanted a bright, welcoming event that would engage visitors and mark a major NHS milestone while remaining sensitive to a hospital environment. The brief required durable, non-slip floor graphics for high-traffic corridors, easy-to-handle photo props for visitors of all ages, and attractive tabletop and bunting decorations that could be safely used in clinical public spaces. As a donated project, we also needed to meet the charity’s timing and budget constraints while delivering professional, high-quality printed assets that reflected the celebratory tone of the day.

The Solution

We worked closely with the charity’s organisers to interpret the Alice in Wonderland brief into practical, hospital-safe graphics. Our studio produced:

  • Floor vinyl stickers with anti-slip lamination and hospital-friendly adhesives for corridor entrances to guide visitors into the coffee morning.
  • A life-size keyhole photo cut-out and character cut-outs to create shareable photo opportunities for staff, patients and visitors.
  • Tabletop decorations and themed bunting printed on lightweight, wipe-clean substrates for hygiene and ease of use.
  • Smaller decorative pieces to dress stalls and donation tables, all colour-managed to ensure a consistent, whimsical look.

Because the work was a charitable donation, we streamlined approvals and delivery logistics to minimise disruption to the hospital. Our production team specified materials suitable for a healthcare setting and packaged the decorations for quick, straightforward installation on event day.

The anti-slip floor graphics drew visitors into the event space, the photo cut-outs proved popular for staff and volunteers, and the bunting and table décor helped create a cohesive theme throughout the foyer. Our donated support amplified Our Hospitals Charity’s NHS 76th Birthday activity, helping to raise awareness and celebrate the local healthcare community while demonstrating Alphagraphics UK’s commitment to community and charitable causes.
